Ports of Auckland welcomes the publication of the first edition of the Final Waterfront Plan, which will be presented to the Auckland Plan Committee on Tuesday 5 June.
In particular, we welcome the recognition given to the port’s place on the central Auckland waterfront and the role it plays in the Auckland economy. Auckland is fortunate in having room for a both vibrant public waterfront and a working port on its doorstep.
The Waterfront Plan depicts the port in the shape and size that is currently consented. Any future development is subject to resource consent and the outcome of the Auckland Council Ports Review.
As noted in the Auckland Plan, based on current information Auckland will continue to need a major port on the Waitematā Harbour, but The Plan does not endorse any specific port expansion proposal.
