Ports are long term businesses and it's important we invest in the future so we can support trade for Auckland and the Upper North Island for decades to come. Globally, ships (cargo and cruise) are getting bigger and we need to be able to handle these ships effectively. Our aging infrastructure also means we need to develop some of our key wharves.
