Content

We are committed to ensuring that the unique strengths of our people are valued. Diversity of thought can only be achieved through diversity of experience, and diversity of our people.

Promoting a positive culture is a significant focus at the port and one of our core values is showing care and respect to one another. We continue to encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work and are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels equal. For the first time in 2024 we celebrated Pride Month and established our Port Pride committee. Our newly appointed Port Pride organising committee, consisting of rainbow community members and allies from across the port, are now helping the port to celebrate rainbow events and milestones year-round. Across the port we also have people honouring their faith in various ways, including holding a karakia or prayer before a shift starts.

We also recognise various cultural events throughout the year, including Lunar New Year, Pasifika Day, Matariki, Diwali, and language weeks. We are also a major partner of Global Women, a non-profit membership organisation that has been driving diversity in leadership in Aotearoa New Zealand for ten years.

Māori Outcomes Framework

Taura Herenga Waka (the Māori Outcomes Framework) provides strategic direction for how we engage with Iwi Māori and how we meaningfully incorporate Te Ao Māori into our everyday work life. This framework recognises our commitment to developing a more meaningful engagement with Iwi and Māori that reflects the importance of Te Tiriti to us.

Pasifika Workforce Strategy

Pasifika individuals make up nearly a third of our workforce, bringing their rich cultures and perspectives to our operations. They are a diverse group, representing different ethnicities, but united by shared values and beliefs. Recognising the huge potential within our workforce, we have set out on a journey to empower our Pasifika staff and unlock their untapped talents. From this was born the Pasifika Workforce Strategy.
