Auckland plays a key role in the New Zealand tourism industry as the primary exchange point for cruise ships – where passengers embark or disembark their vessel, and where ships are re-provisioned. This exchange role is crucial as it is where the vast majority of economic value is captured.

POAL supports the continuing growth of the cruise industry in Auckland through its role of providing a highly efficient service for cruise lines, their passengers and crew when they visit Auckland.

Shed 10 is owned by Auckland Council Controlled Organisation, Waterfront Auckland. POAL’s role is to manage the terminal operations, provide marine services and the gangway  and maintain the under-wharf structure and berth for the benefit of the Auckland cruise industry.

POAL received the award for the most efficient terminal operations in the recently announced international Cruise Insight Awards.
