🚦 Overall Operational Status
We have just successfully handled one of our highest weekly volume profiles at the Terminal since August 2020 with over 12,000 container moves completed. In doing so, we despatched 100% of the container vessels that arrived early or on window back out on window. Port operations continue to remain busy heading into the Christmas/New Year holiday period and there remains ongoing volatility to vessel schedules. We ask for your continued support in clearing imports quickly which will support capacity across the port.
“I” crane repairs should be completed by Christmas.
Our holiday season operating hours are available on our website here
If there are any changes to the operating environment over the next two weeks we will provide an update.
🏗 Container Terminal Update
We are continuing to see significant disruption to vessel schedules due to various factors and we are continuing to prepare in anticipation of the Christmas holiday period and the Kiwi Rail Block of Line. At present, a notable level of congestion is anticipated within the port and across the broader supply chain. Cargo forecasting indicates escalating congestion particularly during the New Year short working week, with further potential congestion expected in mid to late January as the full impact of the Block of Line is realised.
We encourage customers to maintain vigilant monitoring of the POAL website and Kiwi Rail website for real-time updates on vessel movements, cargo receival windows, and other critical operational information. The trucking community is advised to target off peak and weekends to avoid potential congestion and delays.
🚚 Multi-Cargo (MC) Operations
Container/Breakbulk berths and yard is at 30% capacity and is expected to increase to 60% by this weekend as we receive for weekend vessels.
Car volume in the yard is currently 90% and is expected to hold over the rest of the week before easing from next week on.
⚓ Marine Services Update
Operating well.
