🏗 Container Terminal Update
Between the usual winter disruptions and some challenging operational issues, we acknowledge some window performance impacts in the container terminal. Thank you for your patience as we work together to get back to expected service levels.

 eGate:
Reminder that eGate is available for all carriers to use in the empty yard for LINK or empty export drop offs. eGate is not yet available for an empty pick up.  eGate training manuals can be found here. Contact Drivers Assist on 0800 767 800 or [email protected] for support with eGate or to get set up.

Important access requirements for Fergusson Terminal 
With the introduction of eGate, all drivers accessing Fergusson Terminal need a valid Port of Auckland Security Access Card. This ensures everyone entering the port are properly accredited, have a current Authority to Work (ATW) permit, and have completed the Port of Auckland induction.

If any drivers do not currently have an active Security Access Card, they will need to collect one from the ATW Office on Tinley Street by 1600 hours, 30 September 2025.

The Port Access Office is open Monday to Friday, 0600–1600 hours, and can assist with Authority to Work enquiries and Security Access Card collection.

🚚 Multi-Cargo (MC) Operations
The week has been building with large discharges from a couple of back-to-back PCC vessels and the Neptune Matua discharging her Import volume at Multi-Cargo before moving across to Fergusson Terminal to load exports.

Container/Breakbulk berths and yard are at 40% capacity and will be full next week.  

Car volume in the yard is currently at 95% capacity and will steadily drop off heading into next week.       

⚠Safety Notice:

Not disengaging truck pins correctly: 

  • Reminder that drivers must check that their twist locks have been fully disengaged and chains have been released for any container being uplifted at POAL.
  • Not doing so, can cause damage to both your trucks and our straddles. To eliminate this risk please remind your drivers to undo their twist locks when they are in the lane on the truck gird and/or the Driver Safety Zones (DSZ).
  • We are continuing to see drivers open the gates and enter the lanes while a straddle present in the lane, whether the straddle is directly above the truck or slowly exiting the lane. Breaches as such can result in serious injury or in more extreme circumstances, a fatality
  • Breaches as such do result in a 3-day minimum driver suspension
  • If your driver needs to enter the lane for any given reason, please get them to contact Control via the lane kiosk intercom before entering the lane. 

DSZ Areas:

Fergusson Terminal: The truck lane your driver has been allocated is their DSZ. When the gates are open and it is safe to enter, that is the area you driver should be using to do their final checks.

Fergusson Empty Yard: Outside of the gate, the area marked in front of the stop sign is one of two DSZ for the Empty Yard. This area is marked on the ground and has the yellow concrete barriers to keep you safe when you are out of your truck. There is also a second DSZ, just prior to the exit gate inside the empty yard, marked with Road Markings.

Fergusson Empty Yard: 
If you are in the Empty yard and hear a hoist sound its horn, please stop your truck immediately and follow the instructions given by the hoist driver.
