Logistics company Nexus Logistics has appointed Mike Lightfoot to the position of CEO, effective from June 21.

Mike is an experienced and award-winning CEO, most recently heading Milmeq International Ltd, a global exporter of protein processing equipment.

As CEO of Milmeq, Mike successfully led the company's expansion and was recognised by winning the Supreme Award at the 2015 Westpac Business Excellence Awards Auckland, and the 2015 New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Excellence in Innovation award.

Prior to his time at Milmeq Mike was CEO of Buckley Systems, a high tech manufacturing business also exporting to the global market.

Nexus Logistics board chair Garrie Hoddinott said "We are pleased to have someone with Mike's skill and experience to take Nexus Logistics through its next stage of development."

Mike Lightfoot said "New Zealand is a long, thin, rugged, sparsely populated trading nation, miles from anywhere. An efficient supply chain is essential to our well-being, but hard to deliver. I love a challenge and strive to drive improvement within the businesses I lead, so I'm looking forward to working with the Nexus team to deliver the supply chain logistics that New Zealand needs and deserves."

NOTES:

Nexus Logistics is what is known as a '4PL' – a company which helps businesses use existing freight networks to move freight more efficiently. Nexus finds ways to reduce waste in the freight supply chain – and thus save cost – through technology and innovation.

The company works with all New Zealand ports, shipping companies, road, rail and coastal transport services to provide comprehensive, independent, intermodal container logistics and distribution for the domestic and import/export sectors.

Nexus Logistics is 100% owned by Ports of Auckland Ltd.
