This Anniversary Weekend (24 – 26 January), Ports of Auckland will once again open its gates to host SeePort, their annual open weekend.

“Auckland’s Port is usually out of bounds for the public, but once a year we open the gates to host tours, displays and a variety of entertainment to celebrate our Port and maritime heritage,” Ports of Auckland Chief Executive Tony Gibson said.

“This year is a very special year as we celebrate 175 years of Auckland being a port city and we’ve got some very special experiences on offer,” he said.

Aucklanders can choose from bus and boat tours of the port for up close views of operations, or tour our Container Terminal Control Centre to discover how the terminal works. If you've ever wondered what it's like to drive a big ship, you can take a hands on tour of the Ship Simulator at the Maritime School of New Zealand.

If you're a thrill seeker, why not book a ride on a Personnel Cage and experience the feeling of being hoisted up under one of our massive container cranes. Age limits apply and you'll need a head for heights!

Bookings are required for the various experiences, so call 0800 AK PORT (0800 25 7678) to book today!

There are a myriad other activities that don’t require bookings, so there’s something for everyone – a supply chain themed mini golf course, live music, face painters and balloon artists are just some of the activities on offer.

Ports of Auckland SeePort will be held at Captain Cook Wharf (Opposite Britomart on the waterfront from 10am – 6pm every day during Auckland Anniversary Weekend.
