Ports of Auckland has been voted 'Best Seaport in Oceania' at the Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards, for the third consecutive year.

Ports of Auckland Chief Executive Tony Gibson said "I work with a great bunch of people who work round the clock to consistently deliver great results for our customers and the community. I'm delighted that their efforts have once again been rewarded."

"Auckland has a port company of which it can be proud, and that has been recognised internationally. We run one of the most efficient port operations in the Southern Hemisphere. We are leading technological change in our industry and will soon be the first automated port in New Zealand. We aim to become New Zealand's most sustainable port, eliminating carbon emissions by 2040 and driving Auckland's sustainable growth."

Ports of Auckland was the only New Zealand finalist, competing against the ports of Brisbane, Melbourne and Guam. The AFLAS Awards are voted for by actual service users, not a panel of judges, meaning the results truly represent the opinion of the industry. Voters were asked to select winning companies that had consistently demonstrated excellence in customer service, innovation and quality of service. The winning announcement was made at the Asia Cargo News' 2018 AFLAS Awards held in Shanghai last week.
