Ports of Auckland has today met with representatives of the Maritime Union of New Zealand – Local 13 to consult on the port’s proposal to increase flexibility and efficiency at the port under a new labour model.
Ports of Auckland CEO, Tony Gibson said, “we are continuing to consult on our proposal to contract out with a further meeting with MUNZ scheduled for next week. “
Mr Gibson said “we are pleased that MUNZ has indicated a willingness to meet again next week.”
“MUNZ announcement of a week long strike, the 9th from the Union since December underscored the urgency to reach a sustainable long term solution to ensure the port can deliver the service that our customers expect.”
The company is also meeting with MUNZ later today for further mediation on the Collective Agreement.
