Inter-wharf transfer

Ports of Auckland's inter-wharf shuttle services are designed for the growing number of shipping customers using the Port as a trans-shipment hub.

Shuttle trucks move containers between the container terminals and to the rail exchange.

Shuttle trucks move containers between the container terminals and to the rail exchange.

To transfer containers quickly and seamlessly, we offer an inter-wharf cartage service using a fleet of vehicles able to carry a mix of 20-foot and 40-foot containers on multi-trailer combination tractor units of up to 110 tonnes capacity. Our shuttle services can transfer full and empty containers, as well as breakbulk cargo.

Shuttle services are coordinated through Ports of Auckland’s sophisticated container terminal operation and tracking systems.

The Shuttle definition for Urgent and Standard moves:

If a container is on the port and available to be moved 24 hours prior to the departing vessel arrival, and the move has been requested 36 hours prior to the departing vessel arrival, then it is a Standard move and POAL will guarantee the move. If, however, either of these conditions is not true then the container will be treated as an Urgent move. The move will be carried out on a ‘Best Endeavours’ basis and charged at the higher rate. Movement Requests must be during normal Customer Service hours.

Movement Requests must be made on-line – for a log-in, please register on the following link: InterACT Registrations.
